LAKE WATER CONTAMINATION ALERT

(3PM, July 28, 2010)

Aqua VA has alerted LMOA of a sewer leak from a manhole cover on South Bearwood, resulting in raw sewage leaking into the lake. A barricade and warning signs are in place at Beach 5. Aqua VA is in the process of cleaning up the spill and posting signs at the waterline of all lakefront homes affected.

Warning signs advise that swimming is not recommended due bacteria levels that exceed state standards for safe swimming. Aqua VA will continue testing the water until quality is back within safe levels for water activities. Updates will be posted as received.
