Hello Team LMOA! This weekend is going to be hot! The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Advisory for our area. Our Director of Public Safety, Chief Wells, wants to share some tips from the Virginia Department of Health on how to stay cool and recognize the symptoms of heat-related health conditions. Be sure to limit physical activity, especially outdoors, drink lots of water, and check in on your neighbors. Read more tips HERE. Please continue reading for more official news from the Lake Monticello Owners’ Association: Amenities Rental Policy: At the June Regular Board Meeting, the board approved Policy Manual Chapter 6.01 changes to accommodate the new Food & Beverage model. The new Booking Application Form (which can be found on the member side of lmoa.org under Member Services) also reflects the policy changes. The updated policy gives the General Manager more flexibility to establish practical booking procedures and the authority to approve special contract events. The most important procedural change is that spaces leased to RocDun Hospitality (Fairway Rooms, Bistro, Ashlawn Lakeside Restaurant, and the kitchens) must be booked through the lessee. Annual Meeting: Everyone should have received two postcards and/or an email announcing the new Annual Meeting date of July 10, 2024. Voting has been extended to July 3 at 5 PM. There will be no meeting on June 29. Members in Good Standing will receive a total of 3 cards but only need to vote once. Online voting opened on May 28 and those who have already voted, do not need to vote again. Please follow the instructions in your email or on your card and feel free to call Member Services if you have any questions at 434-589-8263. Swim Across the Lake: Preregistration is required to participate in Swim Across the Lake on July 6 and ends on June 26. If you have not registered and would like to participate, please do so now using this link:https://form.jotform.com/241504192978160 Independence Day Celebration Schedule: LMOA’s best tradition is just around the corner! Residential Standards Office Announcements:
The Residential Standards Office would like to remind everyone that yard signs for commercial purposes, such as for landscaping or construction companies, are not allowed. The only approved yard signs are for the current election and realtor signs that meet the requirements in policy 13.05. Residential Standards will begin to issue written warnings for non-approved yard signs starting in July. We ask for your cooperation to help keep our community clutter-free.
The ECC Committee will not meet the week of July 1-5. Any applications received during the committee's break will be moved to the following week. Thank you for your patience!
Beach 3 Kayak Launch: Last weekend, groups of children played on the kayak launch at Beach 3, causing it to dismount. The LMOA Facilities Team (F&O) fished it out of the Lake and returned it to the shop. We will choose a better location soon. We urge parents not to allow their children to play on the kayak launches, on other residents’ boats, and on private docks. Thank you! LMOA is Hiring! We are looking for a Facilities & Operations Tech and a Seasonal Grounds Keeper. Visit CAREERS at lmoa.org to apply! Responsibilities for both positions include:
Outdoor Common Area Maintenance: General Landscaping, Mowing & Trimming, Mulching, Debris Removal, Minor Structure Repair
Indoor Common Area Maintenance: Restroom Maintenance, Minor Repairs, Painting & Patching Interior Structures, General Electrical and Plumbing
Road Maintenance: Snow Removal Patching, Painting
Have a great weekend! Tom Schauder LMOA General Manager
