Hello, Team LMOA! We are excited to announce two new ways to enjoy food at Lake Monticello. RocDun Hospitality LLC (Bunker Bistro) is ready to launch a daily to-go service from the Ashlawn Clubhouse, and Freedom Drip will provide coffee and donuts from a food truck on weekdays located at the golf course! We hope these services are here to stay, but they will only be successful if the community supports their endeavors! If these are things you value, please make good use of these services. Continue reading to learn more! Dinner Take Away Menu: The feedback about the quality of Bunker Bistro’s food and service has been nothing but positive. Jacie and Sam, the owners of RocDun Hospitality LLC, are doing a great job serving the community and want to expand with a To-Go Service. Here’s what to expect:
Order Monday - Saturday from 2-6 PM, Sundays 12-5 PM
Pick up food hot between 4 - 7 PM or ready to reheat anytime from 2 - 7 PM
The menu will be available on Saturday, September 14, via THIS LINK. Have a look tomorrow!
Local Coffee To-Go: Calling all Coffee Lovers, dog walkers, joggers, and golfers - this message is for you! Starting Monday (09/16), Fluvanna resident Lauren Davis will park her coffee and donut truck in the upper parking lot of the golf course Monday - Friday from 7 - 10:30 AM. She uses coffee beans from Greenberry, a Fluvanna County-based company. Lauren is a proud supporter of veterans and will offer them a 20% discount. She also sells donut holes, cake pops, hot teas, apple cider, and hot chocolate. She’s here on a trial basis to gauge the community's demand for this to survive. ** Fireworks Survey: At the Regular Board Meeting on August 22, 2024, LMOA's Director of Public Safety, Chief Wells, reported having observed serious hazards during the fireworks shows of July 2, 2023, and July 6, 2024. The LMOA Board of Directors is taking Chief Wells' plea to eliminate the fireworks show or significantly increase security during the event into consideration. They are NOT considering canceling the other Independence Day festivities. Before making a decision, the Directors would like to hear from LMOA Homeowners through a survey. Please take 5 minutes to participate and let the BOD know where you stand on the subject by September 23. Please note that the survey can only be taken once on the same device. If multiple household members would like to fill in the survey, they will need to use different devices. ** Surveys can be filled out using the link provided in the GM Corner emailed exclusively to Lake Monticello residents. If you are having trouble accessing the survey, please contact our Member Services Team: [email protected] or call 434-589-8263 select option 1 for Member Services available Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM - 5 PM. Please Help Our Beautification Corps: The Lake Monticello Beautification Corps (LMBC) is welcoming volunteers to help in their continued effort to keep up and improve the landscaping of LMOA’s public areas. They plant everything from flowers to trees and maintain the areas for everyone’s enjoyment. They have regular landscaping work parties on most Mondays, starting at 9 AM. No special skills or tools are required. You can just show up ready to lend a helping hand. The next few scheduled projects are:
Sept. 16: Tufton Pond (Tufton Lake Lane)
Sept. 23: Main Gate (857 Jefferson Drive)
Sept. 30: Ashlawn and Main Beach (41 Ashlawn Blvd.)
Holiday Home Tour: LMBC will also continue one of the Lake’s most beloved traditions, the Holiday Home Tour and Art Raffle! This year, it will take place on December 14. They are looking for one or two more homeowners to open their decorated homes to the public in support of this celebration. If you are proud of your holiday decorating skills and want to share them with the community, please contact Alan Aldag at [email protected]. You can also email him if you have general questions about LMBC. Newcomers & Old Friends: Newcomers and Old Friends will be having their first meeting of this board year on September 15 from 3:30 to 5:00 PM at Ashlawn Clubhouse. At the meeting, Lakers can join or renew their membership for just $10 per person. There will also be a brief introduction, general announcements, and sign-ups for small group activities for the year (they have over 30 to choose from). They will be collecting used eyeglasses for the Lion's Club, the largest donor of eyeglasses in the world for those in need. Member-To-Member: Your last chance to sign up for the Member-To-Member Championship is tomorrow. (9/14). The championship that takes place on September 21-22 is open to all LMOA property owners and golf contract holders. Don’t miss your chance to compete in this fun event! Sign up HERE. Birds of Prey: EarthQuest is coming back to the Lake on September 29! Get up close and personal with hawks, falcons, vultures, and owls while learning about these fascinating and beautiful birds! The event is sponsored by the Wildlife Committee and starts at 2 PM on the Ashlawn Clubhouse lawn (41 Ashlawn Blvd.). Bring your own chair unless it rains; in that case, the event will move indoors. Aqua Virginia: At the last Water Workgroup meeting on September 11, Aqua Virginia’s staff informed us that the next bill will contain information about properly disposing of grease and wipes. Grease and wipes (even “flushable” ones) are the number one reason for sewage backups and pump and grinder failures at Lake Monticello, their staff said. “Both should never end up in the system,” Jay Divers said. “Instead, they need to be thrown away in the trash." Earlier this year, Aqua Virginia developed a WEBPAGE specifically for Lake Monticello. It contains lots of useful information about water quality, contacting their customer service, outages, and how to keep unwanted contaminants out of our Lake. LMOA urges all residents to read through the site and keep the address handy. It can also be accessed on the public side of lmoa.org under About Us, Utility Partners. THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND Don't stay home, go out and have some fun! There is SO MUCH free, fun stuff going on this September 14. The choices are hard to pick from! We asked LMOA Staff what they are doing on Saturday, and these are their picks:
