May 27 Annual Meeting Voting went live via email. Postcards are expected to arrive in mailboxes this week. Voting ends June 20. Volunteers Needed for July 4th Events: We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us on Friday, July 4, 2025, especially for the 5K and Sand Sculpture Contest! If you’d like to join the neighborhood fun and volunteer for at least 2 hours at one of our events, please fill out THIS FORM. You can find the event details on the form. Thank you for your support! Tuesdays in June Functionally Fit: This class meets from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM. It focuses on agility, strength, balance, flexibility, and cognitive fitness. Janelle wishes to train others to be able to perform Active Daily Living in order to care for themselves and to continue enjoying activities such as gardening, playing pickleball, golfing, and any other daily activity. Get functionally fit and have fun! All you need is a mat and enthusiasm! All questions and registration (not required) can be sent to [email protected]. Wednesdays in June Strength Training Circuit: this class will meet in the Ashlawn Clubhouse Lake Room from 10:15 – 11:15 AM. It will incorporate free weights, tubing, and bodyweight exercises that will help you tone your entire body and feel energized. Contact [email protected] to join. Participants should bring their own weights and a mat. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays in June - Yoga with Renata Miller: Lake resident, Renata Miller (with occasional help from Cynthia Moore), is offering three yoga classes at the Ashlawn Clubhouse. She offers a Tuesday & Thursday yoga class from 8:45 - 10 AM, and chair yoga from 2 – 3 PM on Wednesdays. All you need is a yoga mat! June 2 - 25 Early Registration for Swim Across the Lake and 5K: It’s that time of year – preregistration for Swim Across the Lake is open! PREREGISTRATION is required to participate in Swim Across the Lake. Participants must be at least 10 years old, and the event will be held in heats of 50 swimmers to ensure all participants remain visible during the crossing. There will be no same-day registration for Swim Across the Lake. The 5K also offers a preregistration period, but is not mandatory, see HERE. All other events will still offer same-day registration. June 4 Silver & Gold: This group is open to all Fluvanna County residents 55 and up and meets on the first Wednesday of each month at the Ashlawn Clubhouse from 10 – 11:30 AM. Contact Peggy Shanklin for more info at [email protected]. June 9 – June 12 QuickStart: This event is sold out! Thank you to those who registered. This event will take place from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Ashlawn Courts (41 Ashlawn Blvd). We've set aside a rain date on June 13 in case Mother Nature intervenes! Please plan to arrive by 8:45 AM on Monday morning so we can get started on time. Don't forget to bring appropriate footwear and stay hydrated with some water. Please note that the Ashlawn Racquet Sports Courts will not be available to other players during the clinics. June 11 Open Mic Night at Bunker Bistro: Bunker Bistro (51 Bunker Blvd.) is hosting Open Mic Night starting at 6 PM. Time slots are filling up quickly, so be sure to snag a 15-minute slot HERE. June 11 Aqua Water Workgroup: This workgroup will meet from 10 to 11:30 AM in the Ashlawn Clubhouse’s Terrace Room A. June 14 Kids’ Fishing Day: Join the Lake Monticello Fishing Club's 20th Annual Kids' Fishing Day! This FREE event will be held Saturday, June 14, from 9 - 11 AM at Tufton Pond. (Saturday, June 21 will be used as a "rain date" if needed.) Rods, reels, tackle, and worms will be provided for FREE, or you can bring and use your own gear! Pizza and prizes will follow the event! Sign up HERE! June 15 Donuts with Dad: The Young Residents and Families Committee (YRF) is hosting Donuts with Dad again this year! Bring your special father figure to the cul-de-sac at the end of Edgewater Dr. from 11 AM - 1 PM, where YRF will treat him to a free donut. Bring a towel or chair and enjoy the Lake view! June 17 DMV at Ashlawn: We are happy to have DMV back at the Ashlawn Clubhouse from 9 AM – 4 PM on June 17 for convenient appointments. You do have to book ahead of time as appointments are limited. Schedule an appointment on their website HERE. Click "Book an Appointment", choose a service, and then look for DMV Connect at Lake Monticello. (HINT: you’ll need to scroll to the bottom to see our location; they are not listed in alphabetical order.) The Ashlawn Clubhouse is at 41 Ashlawn Blvd. June 20 Annual Meeting Voting ends: Voting will close at 5 PM. There will be no in-person voting at the Annual Meeting. June 21 Hygeia Wellness: 3 – 4 PM at the Ashlawn Clubhouse Terrace Rooms A & B. Come discover nutrition strategies and eating behaviors that can help you thrive even among the busyness of life. You will leave empowered and more confident in your ability to better support your body and move toward your goals. Space is limited to 30 people. June 25 LMST First Home Meet of 2025: The first home meet of the season for Lake Monticello’s Sharks begins at 5 PM. Their next home meet will be on July 2, and their final home meet will be on July 16. Please note that the pool will close at 4 PM on those days, and traffic and attendance are high during this time. Please be aware of the increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the pool and Ashlawn Clubhouse. For residents: the Sharks practice on most workdays from May 28 – July 26 at the Lake Monticello Pool in the mornings from 7 – 8:30 AM and evenings from 6 – 9 PM. June 26 Regular Board Meeting: The LMOA Board of Directors will meet for its regular meeting in the Fairway Clubhouse (51 Bunker Blvd.) at 7 PM. This is a change from the originally planned date of June 19th to accommodate Juneteenth celebrations being held at the Bunker Bistro. Sign up to speak at this meeting HERE. July 4: Kids Putting Contest, click HERE for more info! Join the Gray Foxes: The 2025 Season for the Lake Monticello Senior Men's Golf Association (aka "Gray Foxes") is in full swing. They play weekly: 18 holes on Thursdays and 9 on Tuesdays. The weekly games provide a fun way to meet other golfers in the community. With ample playtime remaining in the 2025 season, golfers aged 50 and above are encouraged to complete this registration form. Please turn this form and your $65 fee in at the Golf Pro Shop. The fee includes your dinner at the annual banquet in November.
