GM Corner 13 October 2023

Hello, Team LMOA!
We would like to give a shout-out to LMPD Officers Aaron Kerry, Danny Mowery, and the Fluvanna County Rescue Squad. Yesterday, the officers assisted the rescue squad by going above and beyond their normal police duties to help a resident get urgent medical care. In record time, all parties worked together to safely transport the Lake Monticello resident to the Main Dam where a mid-flight helicopter was waiting to airlift the patient to the UVA Hospital. Thank you LMPD for all that you do!
‘New’ Website and LMOA App:
Next week Wednesday, the website refresh will go live. In addition to a new design on the public side, you can expect a different layout on the private side. The changes will take getting used to, but we have worked hard to simplify lmoa.org so it will be easier to navigate. If you run into issues while exploring the website (missing content, links that do not work), please email
[email protected]
so we can fix the problems. The new design comes with an LMOA app which is expected to go live before
November. We will announce the launch date soon. Thank you for your patience as we transition.
Dredging Program:
Scheduled dredging work will pause for mechanical repairs. We expect the program to be up and running again in a week.
Fire Hydrant Flushing: Aqua Virginia will alert us using WaterSmartAlerts that their team is flushing out fire hydrants next week. WaterSmartAlerts is an automated customer notification designed to communicate with customers quickly via phone, email, or text message. If you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so HERE. Aqua also recommends that you update your contact information if your email or phone number has changed recently. Flushing activities will take place October 16 – 20. Flushing fire hydrants washes away naturally occurring minerals that might have deposited on the insides of pipes over time and ensures proper operation of the fire hydrants. The natural minerals are not unsafe, but they can cause water to be discolored and you might also see a decreased water pressure during this time. Please take into account that iron and other mineral deposits in the water mains will get stirred up, and your water may be discolored. Aqua informs us that the discolored water poses no health risk but can stain laundry. No section schedule has been shared will us at this time.
