June is already off to a fantastic start, but before we dive into this month’s activities, be sure to mark your calendars for LMOA’s famous INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS! July 2-5 will be unforgettable as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday! From old favorites like Swim Across the Lake to new traditions like basketball tournaments, limited edition t-shirts and fireworks at the golf course, you can find all the Independence Day event information and registration details HERE!

Weekly Ashlawn Clubhouse Activities (These are free and open to all residents!):

Mondays: Tai Chi | 9-10:15 AM - Practice for the experienced.

Tuesdays & Thursdays: Yoga with Renata Miller | 8:45-10 AM - Just bring your mat!

Wednesdays: Line Dancing with Jan Shattls | 9-10 AM - Just a fun way to exercise with friends and neighbors at the Ashlawn Clubhouse!

Saturdays: Lake Monticello Run Club | 8 AM | Bunker Park Parking Lot - Join neighbors of all ages for a 5K run or walk. Just show up!

Please note: Tuesday Functionally Fit and Wednesday Strength Training Circuit classes are on hiatus until mid-June. We will update Plan Your Month when classes resume.

Special June Events:

June 1: Lake Monticello Beautification Corps (LMBC) Meeting | 10-11 AM | Ashlawn Clubhouse, Terrace Room A. This lively club loves to plan, plant, and care for public gardens at Lake Monticello. New members are always welcome. Feel free to stop by a meeting to learn more or get involved by contacting Alan Aldag at [email protected] or 860-839-0496.
June 3: Silver & Gold Meeting | 10-11:30 AM | Ashlawn Clubhouse Terrace Room A. This group is open to all Fluvanna County residents 55 and up and meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Contact Peggy Shanklin for more info at [email protected].
June 9 – July 21: Barista Baker | 7 AM -12 PM | 34 Edgewater Drive. Come have coffee at the pool every Tuesday morning this summer and help support the Lake Monticello Swim Team. Fluvanna County’s famous barista Barbie will serve your breakfast favorites and donate a portion of the proceeds to the Sharks!
June 10: Water Workgroup | 10-11:30 AM | Ashlawn Clubhouse Terrace Room A. This meeting will focus on updates to local infrastructure upgrades and improving communication between LMOA and our water and wastewater utility.
June 10: First Lake Monticello Swim Team (LMST) Home Meet | Pool closes at 4 PM.
June 12: Intro to Yoga | 3-4 PM | Ashlawn Clubhouse Lake Room. Join Renata Miller for an introductory class to learn the basics of Yoga.
June 13: Kids’ Fishing Day | 9-11 AM | Tufton Pond. This free event is for children ages 3-12, accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Lake Monticello Fishing Club provides everything needed for a fun morning of fishing or bring your own gear. Sign up on the day of the event or make your day easier by registering in advance. Just send an email to [email protected] with (1) the full name and age of each participating child, (2) the name of the accompanying adults, and (3) a contact phone number. Please note the rain date for this event is June 20.
June 14: Fluvanna Master Gardeners Presentation | 2-3 PM | Ashlawn Clubhouse Lake Room. Rescheduled from April, the Wildlife Committee is excited to have members of the Fluvanna Master Gardeners deliver a presentation on “Harmful and Beneficial Insects in Your Garden.”
June 18: Regular Board Meeting | 7 PM | Fairway Clubhouse. Watch the GM Corner for information on how to watch or sign up to speak at a Board Meeting.
June 19: LMOA Voting Closes | 5 PM | Voting for our new Board of Directors is now open and will end on June 19 at 5 PM. We encourage you to learn more about each candidate by reading their bios on lmoa.org and watching the Candidate Forum, produced by our talented Broadcast Committee. While you’re there, be sure to subscribe to LMOA’s YouTube channel for even more great community content! If you are a Member in Good Standing and have not received a notice, please reach out to Member Services.
June 27: 54th Annual Meeting of the Lake Monticello Board of Directors | 10 AM | Fairway Clubhouse.
June 28: Free Virginia Safe Boating Course | 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM | Ashlawn Clubhouse Terrace Rooms A&B. Join the Volunteer Water Safety Team for this free Safe Boating Course. Participants will receive a boating safety card that is recognized throughout the state and country and never expires. This course fulfills the Virginia State boating safety requirement for PWC and motorboat operators. Topics include Safe Boating Practices, Navigation Rules, Emergency Procedures, and more. July 2-5: Celebrate USA’s 250th anniversary with Lake Monticello’s Independence Day festivities! As we gear up for the 4th of July festivities, we’re still looking for volunteers to help make the events a success. Please consider signing up to volunteer, and don’t forget to register for all your favorite events.

Golf at Lake Monticello:

Junior Summer Camps! Starting June 8, Half & Full day camps will introduce your child to the fundamentals of golf as they work through levels of the US Kids golf game-based curriculum. Camp dates are: June 8-12, July 13-17, and July 20-24. Half day runs 9-11 AM with full day from 9 AM – 2:30 PM. Register with this form and drop it off at the pro shop.
June 5-7: Annual Member Guest Golf Tournament.
June 9: Free Wedge Clinic | 3-5 PM. This FREE clinic will help you hit more accurate shorts from inside 25 yards. Call the pro shop at 434-589-3075 to reserve your spot.
June 11: Youth Golf Foundation Fundraising Day | 11 AM – 8 PM | Dine in for lunch and dinner and a percentage of food sales will go directly to support the foundation and our young players!
June 20: Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire & Rescue Tournament | 8 AM – 2 PM. Sign up by June 12 at the pro shop.

Groovin’ at the Grove | 4-7 PM | Pleasant Grove Park. Second Saturdays May – September, enjoy free live music, food trucks, and beer garden. Bands take the stage at 5 PM.

June 4: Fluvanna County Job Fair | 4-7 PM | Fluvanna County Library. June 6: Virginia Master Naturalist Monthly Hike | 10 AM – 12 PM | Meet behind the Fluvanna Library to explore portions of the Beech, Deep Creek, and Heritage Trails. In honor of nesting season, discover the incredible ways birds build their nests—from tree cavities to canopy branches and ground shelters. Enjoy about a mile of shaded wooded trails featuring tree roots and one moderate incline. Pre-register online HERE.
June 9: Blue Ridge Health District Free Immunization & TB Screening Clinic | 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM | Fluvanna County Health Dept. Route 15 County Office Building. Now is the time to plan for required school immunizations for the 2026–2027 school year! Low-cost or no-cost immunizations are available for those who qualify. Call 434-591-1960 for more information.
June 13: Art in the Park | 10 AM | Pleasant Grove Park. Spend the day celebrating creativity, community, and local talent at Art in the Park! Browse artisan vendors featuring handcrafted goods, paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, woodworking, and more while enjoying children’s activities, food trucks, and beautiful park surroundings. Then keep the fun going at Groovin’ at the Grove from 4–7 PM with food, beverages, and live music by Cherry Red.
