Happy Monday, Lakers!

Can you believe that July is already here? We hope you have your stars, stripes, and sparklers ready for the upcoming INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS!

A quick reminder: LMOA Administrative Offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the holiday, and there will be no GM Corner this week. Once the festivities are over, there will still be plenty happening around the community. Check out what’s coming up in July below!

Weekly Ashlawn Clubhouse Activities (These are free and open to all residents!):

Mondays: Tai Chi | 9-10:15 AM - Practice for the experienced.

Tuesdays: Functionally Fit will resume on July 14 | 11:30 AM-12:30 PM - Build agility, strength, and more with Janelle Holden. All you need is a mat and enthusiasm. Questions? Email: [email protected].

Tuesdays & Thursdays: Yoga with Renata Miller | 8:45-10 AM - Just bring your mat!

Wednesdays: Strength Training Circuit | 10:15-11:15 AM - This class incorporates free weights, tubing, and bodyweight exercises that will help you tone your entire body and feel energized. Contact [email protected] with any questions you may have. Participants should bring their own weights and a mat.

Line Dancing with Jan Shattls | 9-10 AM - Just a fun way to exercise with friends and neighbors at the Ashlawn Clubhouse!

Saturdays: Lake Monticello Run Club | 8 AM | Bunker Park Parking Lot - Join neighbors of all ages for a 5K run or walk. Just show up!

Special July Events:

Every Tuesday through July 21: Barista Baker | 7 AM -12 PM | 34 Edgewater Drive. Come have coffee at the pool every Tuesday morning this summer and help support the Lake Monticello Swim Team. Fluvanna County’s famous barista Barbie will serve your breakfast favorites and donate a portion of the proceeds to the Sharks!
July 1: Lake Monticello Swim Team (LMST) Home Meet | Pool closes at 4 PM. Cheer on the LMST Sharks as they take on the Glenmore Tornadoes! Please be aware of increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the pool and Ashlawn Clubhouse during this time.
July 1: Silver & Gold Meeting | 10-11:30 AM | Ashlawn Clubhouse Terrace Room A. This group is open to all Fluvanna County residents 55 and up and meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Contact Peggy Shanklin for more info at [email protected].

7 PM: 18th Fairway opens for viewing; Kona Ice Truck and Hot Dog/ Beer Cart open for food & beverage purchases

7 AM: Spirit 5K at Bunker Park; Sand Sculptures can begin on Main Beach; Barista Baker Coffee Truck
10 AM: Kids Games and Crafts on Ashlawn lawn; Patriotic Skiers (view from Main Beach)

12-4 PM: Food and Beer Garden outside Ashlawn

July 3: LMOA Administrative Offices Closed in Observation of Independence Day. Many staff members and volunteers will instead be out in the community helping bring the Independence Day fun to life!
July 6: Lake Monticello Beautification Corps (LMBC) Meeting | 10-11 AM | Ashlawn Clubhouse, Terrace Room A. This lively club loves to plan, plant, and care for public gardens at Lake Monticello. New members are always welcome. Feel free to stop by a meeting to learn more or get involved by contacting Alan Aldag at [email protected] or 860-839-0496.
July 11: GLOW Pool Party! | 7-10 PM | Lake Monticello Pool. Join the LMST Sharks for a night of swimming and dancing to raise money for the swim season. Tickets are $12/person or $50/family. Email [email protected] for tickets and more information.
July 14: Red Cross Blood Drive | 9 AM - 2 PM | Ashlawn Clubhouse Lake Room. The need for blood doesn’t take a vacation! There are still several slots available. Please sign up today at RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-733-2767
July 15: Water Workgroup | 10-11:30 AM | Ashlawn Clubhouse Terrace Room A. This meeting will focus on updates to local infrastructure upgrades and improving communication between LMOA and our water and wastewater utility.
July 15: Lake Monticello Swim Team (LMST) Home Meet | Pool closes at 4 PM. Cheer on the Sharks in their last home meet of the season.
July 23: Regular Board Meeting | 7 PM | Fairway Clubhouse. Watch the GM Corner for information on how to watch or sign up to speak at a Board Meeting.
July 30: DMV at the Lake | 9 AM - 4 PM | Ashlawn Clubhouse Terrace Room A. Save a trip to the DMV and come to Ashlawn! Appointments can be scheduled starting July 16 on DMV’s website. In addition to taking care of DMV services, you can also apply for hunting and fishing licenses.

Golf at Lake Monticello:

July 3: Red, White, and Blue Golf Tournament | 8 AM – 1 PM. Complete your registration form HERE and drop it off at the Pro Shop before all spots are full!
July 3: Kids’ Putting Contest | 9-10 AM. Bring your kids aged 12 & under to enjoy a mini golf contest on the chipping green behind the Fairway Clubhouse.
July 11: Free Putting Clinic | 11 AM – 1 PM. This FREE clinic will help you make more putts and gain confidence on the greens. Learn more HERE.
July 18-19: Championship Weekend. Test your skills to become the 2026 Club Champion! Complete your registration form HERE and drop it off at the Pro Shop by July 11.
