GM Corner 20 October 2023
Friday, October 20, 2023
Good afternoon, Team LMOA!
There are lots of activities and a board meeting coming up in the next week. Please keep reading to get the latest Lake news update:
Fire Safety Tip: The Fire Chief of the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire and Rescue (LMVFR) would like to remind us that November 5th is a good time to change the batteries of your smoke alarms. LMVFR endorses the “Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries” campaign which encourages the public to change their smoke alarm batteries when turning clocks back in the fall and ahead in the spring. Working smoke alarms are a critical element of home fire safety, and changing the batteries should happen twice a year. Making it a habit to do so when the time changes can save lives according to Chief Richie Constantino. Read the full article HERE.
Winterizing Restrooms: Our Maintenance Team will winterize and close the restrooms at Beach 2, 3, and 4 for the winter around November 5. This prevents damage caused by frozen pipes and saves on costs. The Main Beach bathrooms will be winterized after the Beach Bonfire which takes place on November 11. Ashlawn Playground, Bunker Park, Lafayette Playground, Beach 5, and the Marina will have facilities available throughout the winter.
Asphalt Millings: Maintenance is offering recycled asphalt millings that can be used in a variety of landscaping projects. Please email the department and ask about availability at
[email protected]
.
Tip for Smooth Gate Access: If you have scheduled a delivery or called in a guest, please ask the driver to enter at the Main Gate (857 Jefferson Drive) or the Falcon Hills Gate (58 Bridlewood Drive by Food Lion). This will help prevent traffic jams at our barcode-only gates. It is also important to keep your household members (dependents, partner, etc.) and permanent guests updated in your online profile. On the refreshed website (lmoa.org), you can access your profile on a desktop computer by logging in and clicking on the link to the brown toolbar. It has been brought to our attention that the brown toolbar is not always visible if you are using a smart device to log in. We are working with the website host on a solution.
LMOA Website & App: Great job to our Communications Director and the staff who assisted her in launching an improved LMOA website. Please have a look and provide feedback if you encounter an issue as we plan to correct them on the new implementation. Our refreshed website will have a complimentary app for LMOA Members soon. The team is still working on this and expects it to be ready by mid-November. Our golf course partners already have a Lake Monticello Golf App which you can download in your app store. This will add you to Troon's digital newsletter for Golf, Dining, and the Pool specials and news.
Job Opportunities: LMOA has room for a Custodian and Maintenance Tech on our team. The Maintenance Team works hard to keep our common spaces clean and functioning. It is very gratifying work that is noticeably appreciated by our community. For more information, please visit our Careers page HERE!
