Hello, Team LMOA! Will we be getting snow next week on Tuesday? Maybe! Our Facilities & Operations Team will be ready regardless. Meanwhile, there is another flood watch this evening. We would like to remind residents that clogged culverts can cause surface flooding in yards and on roads when we get heavy rainfall. Please make an effort to clear your drains, culverts, and ditches of leaves and other debris. Other tips are to loosen boat lines and prepare for a possible power outage (read how HERE). If we open hole #14 for sledding on the golf course next week, we will announce this on our official Facebook page. Please continue reading for this week’s news update: More Inclement Weather Prep: Chief Wells also wants to remind everyone to make sure their car is in proper condition for winter driving. Make sure you have good tires with plenty of tread, a good battery, and an ice scraper. “Anytime your windshield is obstructed with ice or snow, you need to clear and clean your entire windshield and all your windows,” he says. “Simply clearing a small spot to see through is both unsafe and illegal. If you must drive during inclement weather, drive slowly and leave plenty of stopping distance." Click HERE for more information. Please Run for the Board: On January 26, petition packets will become available to candidates who want to run for the board or propose policy changes. Serving on the LMOA Board of Directors is one of the most impactful ways to give back to your community. If you are interested, our staff is happy to answer any questions you may have about petitioning (you will need to collect 150 signatures of Members in Good Standing). Email [email protected] or stop by the Ashlawn Clubhouse for more information. Billing: All billing statements have been sent. If necessary, please make sure you have submitted a Monthly Payment Agreement HERE. All members should make a payment by January 31, 2024. Thank you! LMOA’s Financial Future: Thank you for participating in LMOA’s survey. The survey will close at noon on February 14, but already over 1300 residents have participated. We look forward to discussing the results at the town hall meetings which are scheduled on the following days:
We invite all Members to join us in-person or live via YouTube or Comcast channel 977. Holiday Tree Disposal: LMOA is once again offering live holiday tree drop-off at Tufton Pond until January 19. Please remove all decorations, lights, and stands, and do not leave trees beside the road near the pond. Instead, follow the signage to the proper drop-off area. Tufton Pond is at Tufton Lake Lane between Sunset Court and Northwood Road. Trees left at Tufton Pond will be chipped. If you would rather dispose of your live holiday tree with your trash, GFL requires you to cut it into small pieces that fit in your trash tote (the lid has to be able to close). This will go to the landfill. Marigold the Opossum: The Wildlife Committee received some sad news this month. Marigold the Opossum passed away, an animal ambassador of the Wildlife Center of Virginia. The committee sponsored her two years in a row and will choose another Caring for Critters project soon. Click HERE to learn more about Marigold. Job Opportunities: LMOA still has a job opening for a Security Officer. Troon is also looking for a full-time Pool Manager during the summer months. The seasonal position pays $23-25, 36-40 hours a week. Learn more at CAREERS on lmoa.org. We can’t wait to hear from you! Creative Volunteer Opportunity: The Lake’s Broadcast Group is looking for creative and technical team members to help produce educational and memorable videos of our community. You don’t need to have any experience because you learn how to operate a camera and edit footage from a professional for free! This is the perfect opportunity for an adult who wants to start a new hobby or for high school students who need volunteer hours. Please send an email to [email protected] for more info and check out our YouTube channel. You'll be doing them a huge favor if you hit subscribe! Pub Events: Please check out the Event Calendar at lakemonticellogolf.org for fun events happening at The Pub in January, like the Wine Dinner, Robbie Burns Night, English Night and live music. Reserve as soon as possible if you would like to attend! Have a great weekend! -Tom Schauder General Manager
