Hello, Team LMOA! Please continue reading for the week's news update: Town Hall Meeting Reminder: The Board is holding two town hall meetings to discuss a potential Board Proposal for a dues increase. The first will be held on February 6, 2024, at 6 PM. LMOA Members will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments during the second half of the meeting in the Fairway Clubhouse at 51 Bunker Blvd. There has been an adjustment made to the agenda: realtors will not be speaking in person due to scheduling conflicts. However, we have contacted some realtors and will be able to provide a general statement. To help Members prepare their questions, we have posted survey results on lmoa.org. These can be found under the GOVERNANCE drop-down menu. This meeting and the second town hall meeting on February 28th will both be recorded by our Broadcast Group. If you would still like to participate in the survey, you can do so HERE until noon on February 14. New F&B Model Update: The Board of Directors has agreed to lease The Pub to RocDun Hospitality LLC, a new Food & Beverage (F&B) company owned by two Lake residents, Jacie Dunkle and Sam Rochester. This is a step to eliminating an annual $325K loss in F&B by 2025. Losses will not be eliminated immediately because the Board has agreed to make up to $100K available for start-up costs this year. This is believed to position RocDun Hospitality for future success and reduce the losses in 2024 by at least $125K. Troon's last day providing F&B service is expected to be Sunday, February 25. RocDun plans to reopen on March 12; The Pub will be closed between those dates. RocDun Hospitality LLC will be providing more details soon about their Grand Opening on the 12th. Aqua Virginia: There were lots of good presentations at the Board- Committee Chair work sessions this week. Tom Diggs, Chair of the Community Development Committee (CDC) shared that 922 comments have already been sent to the State Corporate Commission opposing Aqua Virginia’s rate increase. He also said that 50% of the comments voice concerns about poor infrastructure, 49% address sewage overflows, and 25% mention concerns about poor water quality. The CDC thanked residents for getting involved and urged more to join in the effort to oppose the rate increase. For more information and a link to the SCC website where you can submit comments, please read this article HERE. Billing Letter Typo: There is a typo in the billing letter; the correct phone number for Member Services is 434-589-8263. We would like to apologize for the confusion and confirm that our Member Services Team is processing payments, not a third party. Please call the number above if you have any questions. Thank you! Aerobics Class Relocation: The free women's low-impact aerobics class that used to take place at the Ashlawn Clubhouse has been moved to the Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue building at 10 Slice Road. The class is on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8-9 AM. Contact [email protected] if you have questions. FEMA Flood Map: LMOA has received a letter from FEMA acknowledging receipt of LMOA’s request to reevaluate the new flood map. Until the request is resolved, FEMA will not issue a Letter of Final Determination. According to the letter, it may take a few months before FEMA reaches out to us again. Job Opportunities: LMOA’s pool contractor, Troon, is also looking for a full-time Pool Manager during the summer months. The seasonal position pays $23-25, 36-40 hours a week. Learn more at CAREERS on lmoa.org. We can’t wait to hear from you! Holiday Decorations: LMOA Environmental Compliance & Control would like to remind residents that per LMOA policy (Chapter 13.03, section IX A3), festive winter holiday decorations are to be removed by January 31 every year. Please help us maintain community standards by complying with LMOA's policy. Thank you! Have a great weekend! -Tom Schauder General Manager
