February 28 Town Hall Meeting: The LMOA Board of Directors invites LMOA Members to attend a second town hall regarding a potential Board Proposal for a dues increase on the 2024 Annual Meeting ballot. Panelists - which will include members of the Board and the LMOA Finance and Audit Committee, as well as the GM and other staff - will discuss the reasoning behind the Board’s drafted proposal attached to this email. This meeting will be broadcast and streamed live (Comcast channel 977 and YouTube). February 26 - March 11 The Pub CLOSED: Our restaurant on the golf course will be closed for cleaning, decorating, etc. by the new lessee RocDun Hospitality. Jacie Dunkle and Sam Rochester plan to reopen on March 12 under the new name ‘Bunker Bistro’. Be on the lookout for a separate email with more details soon!
March 1 Slip/Rack Payments Due: If you would like to keep your boat slip and/or kayak and canoe racks, payments are due March 1, 2024, and are considered late after March 31. Please make a payment at the Marina as soon as possible. There is a waiting list; if we do not receive a payment before April 1, 2024, your spot may be given to someone else. March 1 Racquet Sport Memberships: The 2024 Tennis and Pickleball Season starts on March 1, 2024. For those wishing to renew their memberships, fees are due to Member Services prior to access to the Ashlawn Racquet Sports Courts. Please apply HERE. March 3 Bear Program: Come celebrate World Wildlife Day with your neighbors and learn everything you need to know about bears at the Ashlawn Clubhouse at 2 PM. The LMOA Wildlife Committee will host the free, educational program with Master Naturalist Jack Day. Everyone is welcome! March 12 Water Workgroup: The monthly LMOA/Aqua Virginia Water Workgroup Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 10:00 AM in the Ashlawn Clubhouse Terrace Room A. March 14 Ladies Golf Breakfast: The Lake Monticello Ladies Golf Association invites the women of the Lake to their Kick-off Breakfast from 9:30 AM to noon at the Ashlawn Clubhouse in Terrace Rooms A & B (41 Ashlawn Blvd.). There you can learn about all special events, tournaments, and ladies’ golf leagues at Lake Monticello. Contact Jacque Lamb at [email protected] if you have any questions. March 16 Water Safety Team Membership Meeting: Lakers Diane and Gib Kerr are bringing new energy to our Water Safety Patrol. Tom Braithwaite handed over the reins when he retired last fall, and the couple is working closely with staff to revamp the group’s role in our community as well as its educational resources. The group - which is a volunteer division of the Department of Public Safety - is also changing its name to Water Safety Team (WST). Now is the perfect time to let WST know you are interested in joining the group. Please email [email protected] if you would like more information. Their Spring Membership Meeting will be at the Ashlawn Clubhouse at 10 AM. March 16 LMVFR St. Patrick’s Day Fundraiser: The Lake Monticello Fire Department is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day fundraising party on March 16 at 6 PM at 10 Slice Road. The $20 entrance fee covers dinner, music, and door prizes. Please bring your own drink! The St. Patrick’s Day Party is advance tickets only. For tickets, please call Michael McGurk at 434-282-8496. March 16 Wellness/Nutrition Program: Join Hygeia Wellness Park nutritionist Cynthia Moore RDN for The Power of Food: Gut, Brain and Heart Health Hacks. Ashlawn Clubhouse, March 16th, 3-4:15. Free. In this presentation you'll learn how your gut talks with your brain and simple food strategies to benefit the microbiome. You'll be able to compare your current patterns with the beneficial Mediterranean eating style. If you want to lower cholesterol, balance blood sugar, boost longevity or improve digestive health you'll gain 2 strategies. Balanced eating can also benefit mood and cognitive wellbeing. We'll show you how. Note: this is a food and nutrition based presentation for general public health. People with 2 or more chronic health conditions may find individualized care with a Registered Dietitian to be most beneficial. March 17 St. Patrick’s Day Fun: Bunker Bistro: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day from 9 AM - 5 PM at the new Bunker Bistro! The $3 entertainment charge gives you access to:

YRF ‘Leprecoin’ Hunt: Enjoy more St. Patrick’s Day fun with the Young Residents & Families Committee at the Annual Children’s Leprecoin Hunt at the Ashlawn and Lafayette Parks! The hunt will begin promptly at 3 PM with a staggered start to allow little kids a head start. March 18 West Coast Swing: Kyla Miller is hosting free West Coast Swing practice sessions on the third Monday of each month from 7- 8:30 PM starting March 18 in the Terrace Rooms of the Ashlawn Clubhouse. The first 30 minutes will be a lesson on variations of the push, pass, or whip followed by an hour of beginner-friendly music for open dancing. Dancers are expected to already know their basics (push, pass, and whip). For more information, please contact Kyla at [email protected]. March 20 JABA: JABA’s Aging Services Coordinators (ASC) will be at the Ashlawn Clubhouse on March 20 from 10 AM to 12 PM to share resources that are designed to empower adults by making an action plan for aging. This session is free and offers information about caregiving, health education, insurance, respite and enrichment centers, volunteering at JABA, and more. March 21 Fluco Fest: Join Fluvanna County Public Schools at Fluco Fest for a ‘Spring into Summer Showcase’. This will be an evening drop-in event for Fluvanna families with an emphasis on sharing resources as well as highlighting outside-of-school summer programming and activities that are available in our area. LMOA will be there with information about summer youth golf programs. The event will be held from 5:30-8:00 PM at the Fluvanna County High School. We will have several local camps and organizations that provide summer programming as well as local community resource providers at the event. Dinner will be provided for all attendees. March 28 Board Meeting: The March Regular Board Meeting will be held at 7 PM in the Fairway Clubhouse at 51 Bunker Blvd. Members are welcome to attend in person or watch live online via the Association’s YouTube Channel. Or join via Comcast channel 977 for a live broadcast. If you would like to speak at this meeting, you need to attend in person and may sign up in advance by emailing Karis Rivera at [email protected]. March 29 Hands-on Fluvanna: During this public school tradition, LMBC will again partner with the Student Government Association to refresh special mulch at LMOA’s playgrounds. Like in years past, students from Fluvanna County High School will lend a helping hand across the county, and LMBC can use all the help they can get (be sure to see the Volunteer Corner below). If you see LMBC and SGA collaborating, please thank these valued volunteers! March 30 Easter Bunny Photo: The Young Residents & Families Committee invites you to “hop to it” for the Annual Easter Bunny Photo. Come enjoy fun for all ages and meet the Easter Bunny with this fun LMOA tradition in the cul-de-sac by the Shark Tank from 2-4 PM. Bring your own camera! March 31 Easter Brunch: The Bunker Bistro will serve an Easter Brunch Buffet with an omelet station, traditional breakfast fare, pastries, fruit, and more from 9 AM - 2 PM.
