Also, there is a free pre-race clinic, and kids 7 -17 race for free! Hundreds of athletes from around the country will be swimming, cycling, and running in and around our community. Please share the roadways, and spectators are welcome! As always, traffic around the Ashlawn Clubhouse will be high and parking will be limited. Please find more information about participating or volunteering at https://lakemonticello.californiatriathlon.org/. New Strategy for EC&C: LMOA is very excited to welcome Mark Novak to our team! He will fill Carol Cavanaugh’s shoes, bringing a fresh perspective on Environmental Control & Compliance. Mark has lived at the Lake since 1998 and served with the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire and Rescue as a Firefighter and EMT for almost 18 years. “In this time,” he says, “I have come to know and love this community and the people who reside here. When this opportunity became available, it provided me with an additional means to continue to give back to the community in other positive ways.” He is working with Chief Wells to rebrand the office starting with a new name, “Residential Standards Office.” The new name better reflects what the office does, and it differentiates it from the Environmental Control Committee (ECC). The Residential Standards Team will spend the next few months reviewing processes to see what efficiencies can be made to improve workflow and better serve our residents. We look forward to hearing all about his team’s plans. Thank you for joining us, Mark! Candidate Petition Packets: We would like to thank everyone who is currently collecting signatures for their Candidate Petition Packets. Six Members are competing for two positions. Packets are due by 5 PM on April 1. The Election Committee will verify signatures and the Board of Directors will announce the qualifying candidates at a Special Meeting on April 15 at 6 PM in the Fairway Clubhouse. The Board sets the agenda for the Annual Meeting. Q&As About Board Proposal to Raise Dues: A new reserve study is currently being conducted by a third party, a required practice that occurs every five years. This recent study will take about six months to complete and will shed more light on the health of our reserves. The first draft can be found on lmoa.org under FINANCE. Meanwhile, the discussion about a dues increase continues. Some residents accepted the offer to send questions about a dues increase to our Board Treasurer, Director Michael Kelly. The Finance & Audit Committee Chair, Rick Roth has also offered to write an article(s) on the topic. These publications are scheduled to go out through email and the Fluvanna Review starting next week. The next Regular Board Meeting is on March 28 at 7 PM in the Fairway Clubhouse. Lifeguards: Troon, our Golf and Pool partner, is hiring lifeguards. Please apply HERE.
