Hello, Team LMOA! Spring is in the air! Our Facilities and Operations Team is busy prepping our warm-weather amenities and there are lots of opportunities for you to spring clean. Please continue reading for LMOA’s latest official news update: Roadside Cleanup: The Lake Monticello Beautification Corps (LMBC) will lead a "Roadside Cleanup" along Rt 618 tomorrow on April 6 starting at 9 AM. Please volunteer to help them tomorrow! The cleanup will be a joint effort by Lake Monticello and Village Oaks residents to improve our environment. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and gloves and meet at the Ashlawn Clubhouse parking lot at 9 AM to get a section assignment and pick up claws and bags. In the past, prizes were given for the strangest piece of trash. Community Yard Sale, Shred Day, and Bulk Trash: The annual Lake Monticello Community Foundation’s Shred Day is April 20 from 9 AM - 11 AM, at the Lake Monticello Fire Department at 10 Slice Road. Papers will be shredded onsite, while owners watch, with the shreds recycled. A donation of $10 per 30-lb. box of papers will benefit the Lake Monticello Community Foundation and Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire & Rescue (LMVFR). This event coincides with LMOA’s Community Yard Sale Day. Lake residents can SIGN UP to be included on a yard sale map that will be shared via Facebook: The deadline to sign up is this Monday on April 15, 2024. The following week, GFL will pick up bulk trash per section. Check out the schedule HERE. UVA Rowing Event Reminder: Weather permitting, the UVA Women’s Rowing Team will host competitors from California, Oregon State, Stanford, Syracuse, and Yale universities at Lake Monticello on April 13 and 14, 2024. The teams will start setting up and practicing on April 11. As a result, the Lake will be “No Wake” from noon on April 11 through 1 PM on April 14, and the boat ramp at the Marina will be closed on:
April 12 from 12 AM to 6 PM
April 13 from 12 AM to 1 PM
April 14 from 12 AM to 1 PM
Also, the main body of the Lake will be limited to race participants from 7 AM to 1 PM on April 13 and 14. Residents are encouraged to cheer the ladies on but are asked not to disturb the races. Race boats cannot stop quickly, so staying out of their pathway is important. Finally, residents who live near the Ashlawn Clubhouse or need to use the courts and other Ashlawn facilities can expect increased traffic and reduced parking. This exciting event is fun for the whole community! Special Open Session: The LMOA Board will hold the Annual Special Open Session meeting to address the Annual Meeting Agenda on April 15 at 6 PM at the Fairway Clubhouse. If you are submitting a Board Candidate Petition or Member Proposal Petition, your confirmation or denial will be announced at this meeting followed by a letter from the Board. This meeting will be streamed live on the Association’s YouTube channel and recorded. DMV Connect at Ashlawn: Can’t get to the DMV? Not to worry, the DMV will come to you! From 9 AM – 4 PM, DMV staff will be at the Ashlawn Clubhouse. Please note, they will be closed for lunch from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Many services are offered, be sure to visit DMVNOW.com/appt to schedule your appointment and view their list of services.
