Hello Our Neighbors and Friends! On behalf of the LMOA Board and Staff, we would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! As always, thank you for reading LMOA’s official news update. Here are some reminders for the coming two weeks:
Our Main Office will be closed on December 24-25 and January 1. The Residential Standards and Barcode Offices and the Marina will be closed the whole week of Christmas and on New Year’s Day. We thank the LMPD, the Main Gate, and other emergency staff who will be providing service throughout the holiday season!
If you are receiving guests, please update your guest list online or email it to [email protected] as soon as possible.
Trash will be delayed; please set your trash out one day later than normal for the next two weeks.
There will be no GM Corner in the week of Christmas.
There will be no Lake Views page in the Fluvanna Review the week of New Year’s.
Project and construction applications will not be reviewed again by the Environmental Control Committee until January 7.
Bunker Bistro will be closed December 24 - 26 and 31, but they will host a New Year’s Eve Party at the Ashlawn Clubhouse and have Christmas To Go options. (See details below under Celebrate with Bunker Bistro!)
Everbridge: LMOA will start offering text alerts starting January 15, 2025, for emergencies, event updates, and community announcements via the Everbridge platform. To register, click THIS LINK, fill out your details, and select your preferred alert types. You can receive messages via email or phone call, too, if you select those options. The form will request your section; if unsure, use the attached map to locate it. Signing up for Everbridge is optional, but remember that LMOA’s regular email service may not be available during storms, while Everbridge is a more reliable option. We encourage you to register! If you would like to use the app, the Organization Code is LMOA. For more information, please read THIS ARTICLE. Meals On Wheels: Meals On Wheels: We’re happy to share that the LMOA Merchandise Sale raised $475 dollars for Meals On Wheels! A huge thank you to everyone who supported this initiative. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the items and what you’d like to see next year, so feel free to drop us an email at [email protected]. Aqua Virginia: Earlier this fall, Aqua Virginia’s Communications Specialist, Heather Keefer, reported that customers in this area would receive a credit on their December bill; however, as you may have noticed, the credit has not yet been issued. LMOA has been in contact with her and is awaiting an explanation, which will be relayed as soon as possible. Holiday Tree Disposal: LMOA will once again offer live holiday tree drop-off at Tufton Pond from December 30 - January 19. Please remove all decorations, lights, and stands, and do not leave trees beside the road near the pond. Instead, follow the signage to the proper drop-off area. Tufton Pond is at Tufton Lake Lane between Sunset Court and Northwood Road. Trees left at Tufton Pond will be chipped. If you would rather dispose of your live holiday tree with your trash, GFL requires you to cut it into small pieces that fit in your trash tote (the lid has to be able to close). This will go to the landfill. Pavilion Workgroup: Lake Monticello residents are invited to volunteer for the Pavilion Working Group. This group will focus on researching and proposing alternative locations for the Board-approved pavilion, funded by the Lake Monticello Community Foundation, an independent nonprofit. While the current location next to the Ashlawn Clubhouse was approved at the August 22, 2024, Board meeting, residents living near the proposed site have expressed concerns. In response, the Board has encouraged those with concerns to collaborate and present alternative options for consideration. If you are interested in joining the group, please sign up HERE. 2025 Dues, Fees, and Rates: To help you plan for your annual billing statement coming up in January, we would like to share the dues, fees and rates with you:

Safety & Security Committee: In the upcoming year, this committee will have three open positions and invites homeowners who are eager to contribute to the safety and enhancement of our community to join. Members of the Safety & Security Committee provide guidance to the Board on safety and security tasks, evaluate the effectiveness of safety services, and suggest policies that address the community’s needs. If you wish to join this committee or any others, please complete the application HERE. If you have already submitted an application, the Board will review and elect members in January. Thank you for applying! Women’s Winter Golf: Interested in playing golf during the winter months? Come on out and play with the women of the Lake Monticello Ladies Golf Association (LMLGA.) Our regular season runs from April through October, but we also play during the winter with individuals who desire to play when their schedule or the weather suits them. Play Tuesdays (18 holes or 9 holes) and/or Fridays (9 holes.) It’s a great way to meet new people and keep your skills up while learning more about the women’s golf leagues and playing opportunities.
