Hello, Team LMOA, As always, our Broadcast Volunteers did a great job recording the board meeting last night. They’ve also crafted an inspiring production, “2024 Year in Review,” which showcases our community’s fantastic memories from the past year. We invite you to take time to watch it and support their work by subscribing to the LMOA YouTube Channel. Please continue reading for a summary of last night’s board meeting and more of LMOA’s latest official news: January Board Meeting Summary: At the regular meeting last night, the LMOA Board of Directors set a date for the Special Open Session Meeting to address matters related to the 53rd Annual Meeting of LMOA. It is scheduled to take place on April 10, 2025, at 6 PM in the Fairway Clubhouse. They also set the date and place for the Annual Meeting to be June 28th, 2025, at the Fairway Clubhouse. Other Board Approvals included the funding for a bench at the Ashlawn Clubhouse Racquet Sports Courts and a wheeled skid steer, which will allow our Facilities & Operations Team to clear snow out of LMOA’s 142 cul-du-sacs more effectively. Important Notification for our President: At the January board meeting, President Larry Henson informed the community that LMOA received a letter from the Department of Justice (DOJ) in mid-December stating it is ineligible for loan forgiveness under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) as a 501(c)(4) homeowners association. The DOJ, representing the Small Business Administration (SBA), advised LMOA to resolve this issue before potential litigation. This notification was unexpected since both the loan and forgiveness applications had been approved by the SBA: LMOA applied for a PPP loan of $646,843 in early April 2020 to avoid furloughing staff, and the loan was approved by mid-April. The SBA granted forgiveness around May 20, 2021. An attorney from our insurance provider is assisting with the response to the letter, and resolution may take several months. We are informing you at the initial stage of this issue and have no further details to share until we have heard back from DOJ, but we will keep you updated as the situation unfolds. Run for the Board! On February 3, 2025, Candidate Petition Packets & Member Proposal Petition Packets will be available. Members who wish to run for the Board of Directors or Propose amendments to LMOA Governing Documents will now be able to do so electronically for the first time ever. Paper copies of the packets will still be available for pick up at the Ashlawn Clubhouse also starting February 3, 2025. For more info on electronic petition packets, running for the Board, or Member Proposals, click here or contact Executive Assistant Karis Rivera at [email protected]. LMOA thrives due to the selfless services of our volunteers. You make the most difference in your community when you volunteer at LMOA! Congratulations, Brenda and Laura! Our Finance Department has some exciting news to share. Our Accounts Payable Specialist, Brenda Jenkins, will be retiring in March after a decade of exemplary service at LMOA. We greatly appreciate her professionalism and unwavering support; she even stayed longer than planned to help us through the billing season. This opens up a new opportunity at LMOA for a “Financial Analyst/Accounts Payable Specialist”. If you are interested, please read the job description HERE. Additionally, our Senior Financial Analyst, Laura Payne, has accepted a well-deserved promotion to become our next Finance Director. Congratulations to you both! Cold Weather: Warmer temperatures are on the way! Although it has been quite frigid, we want to remind everyone that the ice on ponds and the Lake is NOT safe. It hasn’t been cold enough for the ice to be stable, so we urge you to keep yourselves, your pets, and your children off the ice. You may also have noticed that the colder temperatures affect gate functionality a little bit. Please ensure that your barcodes are free of salt and frost (do not use a scraper, as it may damage the barcode), and our staff is keeping the readers as clean as possible. YRF Movie Night: The Craft Night this weekend had to be canceled, but the Young Residents and Families Committee will still hold a movie night next month.
