Happy New Year, Team LMOA! The LMOA Board of Directors and Staff wish you all the best in 2024! We look forward to serving this community in the new year. Meanwhile, we are preparing for winter weather. The Facilities & Operations Team will treat roads in the morning, and snowplows are on standby. Please continue reading for an overview of this week’s news update: Billing: Billing statements will hit your inboxes today. If you have not opted in to receive your statements via email, you will receive one in the next few days via USPS. Please take note of the following:
Semi-annual and monthly payment options are available upon approval from the Billing Office. Please, see your statement for more details.
A Monthly Payment Agreement must be submitted with each new billing year which can be found HERE.
A payment is due by January 31 to stay in good standing.
Your 2024 Annual Barcode Renewals include any Guest Barcode Renewals. If you are paying online, you can find Barcodes under your Amenities Account.
We are happy to report that 94% of our members pay on time. Thank you, we appreciate that! Run for the Board: Are you an LMOA Member in good standing? You can make a world of difference right here at home by serving on the Board of Directors of the Lake Monticello Owners' Association. The Membership elects 7 volunteer homeowners to govern LMOA. They serve 3-year terms and work with staff and committees to create and change policy while safeguarding the community’s property values. It’s a big commitment but one of the most rewarding ways you can make a difference where it matters most! There are two openings available. Here's how to participate:
Pick up a petition packet starting January 26 at the Ashlawn Clubhouse.
Collect at least 150 signatures of members in good standing by March 31 to qualify.
Once the Election Committee verifies signatures, the Board will announce official candidates in April. If certified, your campaign can begin! The LMOA Broadcast Group will even record an interview with you!
Members in good standing will vote May-June, and the winners will be announced at the Annual Meeting on June 22, 2024.
LMOA’s Financial Future: The LMOA Board of Directors is considering proposing a dues increase on the 2024 ballot. They plan to provide multiple platforms for exchanging information on the topic in the next two months. To start, we plan to send out a survey by email next week. Please participate, as your feedback is very important. We also plan to hold town hall meetings on February 6 and 27 (dates are tentative; we will email about any changes to these dates) to exchange more information on the topic. We look forward to hearing from our members and solving financial challenges together. Please be on the lookout for the survey! Creative Volunteer Opportunity: The Lake Monticello Water Rescue and Dive Team held their annual cold water training on January 1, 2024, on the Main Beach. The Lake’s Broadcast Group was on site to capture it all on video. Check it out HERE! You could be part of the creative team that produces educational and memorable documentation here in our community. From cooking shows to live board meetings, LMOA's Broadcast Group records it all. It takes a lot of volunteers to ensure consistent programming. You don’t need to have any experience because you learn how to operate a camera and edit footage from a professional for free! This is the perfect opportunity for an adult who wants to start a new hobby or for high school students who need volunteer hours. Sounds like fun, right? Send an email to [email protected] for more info and check out our YouTube channel. You'll be doing them a huge favor if you hit subscribe! Aqua Virginia: The water main break near North Bearwood Dr. has been fixed. Aqua Virginia reached out today to let us know they have gone live with a Lake Monticello-specific webpage: https://www.aquawater.com/lake-monticello.php. Please contact Aqua if you have any questions about the page. Job Opportunities: Looking for a good work-life balance? We have openings for a Security Officer and Operations Technician. Learn more at CAREERS on lmoa.org or reach out. We can’t wait to hear from you! West Coast Swing beginner lessons: Looking for a New Year's resolution? Learn to dance! Kyla Miller will start a new beginner West Coast Swing class on Wednesday, January 10 from 6:30 - 8 PM in the Terrace Rooms of the Ashlawn Clubhouse (41 Ashlawn Blvd.). This is a progressive class that will last for 8 weeks, and the best part is it is FREE! For more information and to register, please contact Kyla at [email protected]. Pub Events: Please check out the Event Calendar at lakemonticellogolf.org for fun events happening at The Pub in January, like the Wine Dinner, Robert Burns Night, and English Night. Reserve as soon as possible if you would like to attend! Have a great weekend! -Tom Schauder General Manager
