Hello Team LMOA! As we prep to open the pool, refresh the beaches, and install kayak launches, the Fluvanna County School system wraps up the school year. The last day of school is May 22. After that, our younger residents will be home and using the amenities more. Please make room for kids as they use the roads to walk, bike, and skateboard to our parks and beaches. Please continue reading for this week’s official news update! LMOA Annual Meeting: Emails and postcards with voting instructions will be sent on May 28, and voting ends on June 21. The Board urges property owners to read the Annual Meeting Notice thoroughly when it arrives and make an informed decision that protects the future of LMOA. The Board of Directors is asking for a $150 dues increase that will go into reserves annually to replenish those funds. If you would like to read more in-depth articles about the proposal, check these out: - Finance & Audit Committee Chair Rick Roth Addresses Your Concerns - LMOA Treasurer Mike Kelly Answers Your Questions FLUCO Senior Parade Rescheduled: Due to expected rain on Saturday, May 18, high school seniors will postpone their graduation parade here at Lake Monticello. It is now scheduled for Wednesday, May 22. Cars will line up at the Ashlawn Clubhouse at 6:30 PM and leave at 7 PM turning right at the Main Gate, traveling around Jefferson Drive in the direction of the Marina. Expect sirens from the supporting law enforcement and emergency service vehicles that will be part of the parade. Graduation: The Class of 2024 graduates on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 6 PM! As a result, Bunker Bistro will be short-staffed. The bistro will close at 3 PM and the Shark Tank will not open that day. The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office also reminds us to expect traffic congestion that day on Thomas Jefferson Parkway during the afternoon and evening hours. They recommend avoiding the area of the school and Pleasant Grove Park, if possible, for those not attending. Give yourselves plenty of additional travel time if you do have to travel through the area or are attending the exciting event. Traffic patterns and flow may be modified during the event by law enforcement on scene. Be alert so that our school staff and first responders can safely perform their work, and most of all, Congratulations to the Class of 2024! Candidate Forum: Final call for questions! Broadcast Group volunteer Ron Krauss will moderate a Board candidate forum on May 20 at 6 PM in the Fairway Clubhouse. You can send your questions to [email protected] in advance or arrive at the forum early to submit questions. The doors will open at 5:30 PM, and questions can be written on cards at the door until 6 PM. All four 2024 Candidates will participate. Residents are encouraged to attend or watch live via YouTube or Comcast channel 977. There will be NO other Q&A opportunity during the forum. Go ahead and get to know our candidates a little bit by reading HERE. Welcome New Staff and Job Opportunity: Please welcome new members of the LMOA Team! Chiquita Ragland will be supporting us as a part-time Field Inspector and Laura Payne, a Senior Financial Analyst, will work full-time strengthening our Finance Department.
